Here are the changes or additions made to this web site this month.
1. We have added a new page called California State Budget. California has very serious state budget problems and these problems are affecting all the issues we care about. For that reason it seems appropriate to stay informed on budget issues. We hope that this new page will help advocates keep abreast of developments regarding the state budget so they can take timely action to try and prevent budget decisions from adversely affecting the issues they care about.
2. We have added links that provide detailed information on the 2010-2011 budget proposal of California's Governor. One link takes you to the full budget document. Other links burrow into the document taking you to budget proposals for each major program area in California state government.
3. We have added a link to a review and analysis, by the California Legislative Analyst's office, of the Governor's proposal for the state budget. to see this review and analysis click on the California State Budget link on the left side of this page and then scroll down to, and click on, the link to the Legislative Analyst's analysis.
We will try to keep this new page up to date with tools people can use to find out about budget committee hearings and with links to newspaper articles and commentaries on California budget issues.
To see the new page, click on "California State Budget" on the left side of this page.
4. We have added a link to a report of the unemployment rate in California (state wide and by county). To see this report click on "Economic Justice Issues" on the left side of this page.
5. We have done a major revision to our Same Sex Marriage page. We have added a lot of information and tools that advocates and organizations can use to fashion an effective strategy to overturn Proposition 8 at the ballot box. We plan to continually add useful information and tools to this page. To see the revised and updated page, click on "Same Sex Marriage" on the left side of this page.
6. We have added links to lists of HIV/AIDS organizations in California. To see the lists, click on "HIV/AIDS Issues" on the left side of this page.
