Let’s Take SB 9 Over The Top
Many of you wrote to the Assembly in support of SB 9. If you are one of them, please accept my deep appreciation.
SB 9 is the bill that would allow judges to consider reducing the sentence of someone sentenced to life in prison without possible parole, if they committed their crime before the age of 18, but only if the prisoner provides real evidence that he or she has truly reformed, and is no longer a threat to society.
Note: If you want to assure yourself that this bill really does require such evidence, and is not soft on crime, click the following link to see the part of the bill that shows what the prisoner must do before the judge can grant a hearing, much less agree to lowering the sentence.

We are two votes short of the number of yes votes needed to gain approval of SB 9 in the Assembly.
For this reason, I have two requests
1. I would really appreciate it if you would click on the following link, and then sign the petition in support SB 9.

2. If you live in the district of one of the three following Assembly Members, I would appreciate your calling your Assembly Member’s office and leaving a brief message urging him or her to vote for SB 9. With their legislative records, you would expect these legislators to vote for SB 9, but, so far, they have not committed to do so,
Here are their names, phone numbers, and links to maps that show their district boundaries so you can see if you are in the district of one of them (a sample phone message follows)
